Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

Thursday, May 30, 2013

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask is one of those products that is often raved about in the beauty world, so naturally I've been wanting to try it out for a while. A few weeks ago I accidentally popped into House of Fraser on my way home (it's down the road from where I live, which is a serious threat to my purse!), and found myself perusing the Origins counter. After browsing for a couple of minutes and having a quick chat with the lady there, I decided that I finally had to try this mask. Generally, I have pretty standard combination skin - slightly oily t-zone and occasional dry patches, however lately my skin has been looking abnormally dry in places, and in desperate need of a little tlc. I bought this mask in the hope that it would inject a bit of moisture back into my sorry looking skin.

This mask works by "deeply quenching compromised moisture reserves and building a reservoir for tomorrow" - or, in simpler terms, it replaces the moisture that your skin has lost throughout the day and seals it in. I've been using this mask once or twice a week, or when my skin is feeling especially dry. After finishing my usual evening skincare routine, I massage a small amount of the mask into my skin. Although at first it can feel slightly sticky, by the morning it has completely sunk in - leaving my skin bright, plump-looking and hydrated, with a lovely natural glow. Plus, it smells incredible - a gorgeous fresh, fruity scent thanks to apricot kernel oil, mango butter and avocado oil. I can honestly say that my skin has looked and felt so much better since using this mask. My foundation sits on much easier, and my skin looks brighter and much more hydrated. This mask costs £20 for a generous 100ml - and since a little really goes a long way with this mask and it only needs to be used once or twice a week, the tube should last quite a while, making this pretty good value for money. This really is a product that does what it says on the tin (erm... tube) - it's a high quality cream that literally transforms my skin overnight and gives it the hydrating boost that it needs from time to time. Most definitely a very welcome addition to my night time routine.

  5. Like yourself, I've been dying to try this product out! I've never really used face masks or even facial washes as my skin has naturally been quite clear, so I've never felt the need. However I've lately been suffering dry patches on my forehead and nose, so I think its time to treat my skin to this, great post!

  14. This has just made it's way on my beauty list. I'm curious though, you say it's sticky and sinks in by morning. Well how do you sleep without spreading it all around your pillow? Such a lovely review.

    1. It's not overly sticky like like a regular face mask - it's more like a slightly sticky moisturiser, so it's not too bad. I just tend to sleep flat on my back when I'm using it anyway! Thanks.

  16. I was excited to read this, I've got the Drink Up original and love using it; have contemplated the Intensive but wasn't sure. I don't know how I'd feel about going to sleep with product on my face, would be scared it would ruin my pillow. Sounds so good though!

  17. I just bought this today and I'm using it for the first time tonight (i.e. right now!) so your review couldn't have come at a more opportune time. I also find I've been experiencing really dry patches on my skin lately. Hopefully this mask works just as well on me as it has you :)
