L'Oreal Rouge Caresse in Rose Mademoiselle

Friday, July 26, 2013

The L'Oreal Rouge Caresse range are said to be the brand's answer to the much loved Revlon Lip Butters. As a huge fan of Revlons lipstick/balm hybrids, it's a bit of a mystery as to why I haven't tried L'Oreal's offering sooner. I discovered this in the same way that I discover a lot of new products - a 3 for 2 offer. It caught my eye because the packaging looked pretty, and since it worked out free it ended up coming home with me. And I'm so glad it did! I went for the shade 'Rose Mademoiselle', a slightly cool toned, pretty rosy pink that's perfect for summer. The formula of this is pretty amazing. It's moisturising and smooth with a slightly glossy finish, yet it still manages to be really light wearing. I was really pleasantly surprised by the pigmentation too - I was expecting a very sheer finish that would have to be built up a lot, but one coat of this was enough for a decent flush of colour. On the subject of colour, Rose Mademoiselle is the absolute ideal shade of pink for me. It's not too pale or too warm, it's just the perfect medium pink which looks really great against my pale skin.

I'm definitely planning on checking out some more shades in the Rouge Caresse range at some point. I like everything about this, from the texture and application down to the colour. Oh, and I love the packaging. I know some people think that it looks cheap, but I completely disagree. I think it's gorgeous, and, strange as it sounds, I like how firmly the lid snaps into place - it means you don't have to worry about it coming open in the bottom of your bag (we've all been there!). The one downside is that the lasting power isn't amazing, but that isn't too surprising from a moisturising balm style product, and this stuff glides on so easily that touch ups, even without a mirror, are a doddle. All I can say is watch out Revlon Lip Butters, you have serious competition!

PS. Sorry for the week-long delay in new blog posts. I've been on holiday and anticipated having internet over there but due to some silly complications (including completely moving locations!) I wasn't able to get online. In hindsight I probably should have scheduled some posts - I definitely will next time I'm away. Back to regular posting from now on, promise! xo

  1. I love the packaging! I really thought this was going to be a review of a $40 lipstick from YSL that no one in their right mind should buy, but your review makes this lip butter sound amazing. I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for it!

  11. I've heard lovely things about the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse and I'm interested in checking them out for sure. This looks like a gorgeous colour so I'll keep the name in mind. I like the Revlon Lip Butters but if they're as good as you and some other say they are... :O

  12. I love the way you photograph things. They always capture my attention :) I've been looking for a good L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lip product, but all the ones that I've seemed to like were already touched in the store :(

  13. I'm a big fan of these lipsticks in general, they are not drying at all and the packaging is pretty fancy looking for drugstore. Will have to try out this shade!
