Firstly, my apologies for the squished and sorry looking tube in the above photo - a definite blogger faux-pas, I know. I bought this when I was visiting my hometown and my mum got her mitts on it before I had chance to snap a picture of it unused. Somebody is clearly a little behind on beauty blogging etiquette...(!)
Weleda's Skin Food is a cult intensive moisturiser, winner of numerous beauty awards and apparent favourite of the likes of Victoria Beckham, Adele, Alexa Chung and Jessica Stam. The cream, which has been around since 1926, can be used on the entire body but performs particularly well on drier spots such as the elbows, feet and knees. Obviously this is a cream best suited to winter, but I've been using it sparingly over recent weeks and it is seriously good stuff. It absorbs wonderfully, leaving behind no pesky greasy residue - just soft, instantly hydrated skin. I like to use a small blob of this on my hands and feet before bed and the results are wonderful. As well as a body moisturiser, Skin Food can be used on the face, although I think I'll wait until the weather is a little more unforgiving before testing it out - in summer I definitely favour a much lighter moisturiser! I can imagine it working really well as an intensive night cream, though. Skin Food is totally natural and has a pleasant, delicate scent which comes from essential oils including sweet orange and lavandulae. The best part? The price. This tube was around £8 - a steal for a product of this quality and effectiveness. If you suffer from dry skin, or think you could benefit a product in your stash that offers a serious injection of moisture, I strongly suggest that you check this stuff out. It's a lovely, deep nourishing treatment that does exactly what it promises, and does it well. You can definitely add me to the ever-growing list of die-hard Skin Food fans!
