Lomography 35mm Action Sampler

Sunday, July 06, 2014

I love Lomography cameras. Although I couldn't live without my digital SLR and iPhone for daily snaps, there's a kind of raw realness to film that has been lost slightly in the digital era - the lack of a delete button means that every image you capture makes it to print, even the less than perfect ones, and there's something about that I really like.

The Lomography Action Sampler shoots four images in close succession then stitches them all together in the format you see above. The idea is that you can document movement and create four slightly different images within one photograph. As with all "toy cameras", the Action Sampler is unpredictable. It lets in occasional lights leaks, the exposure changes between every photo and some pictures barely come out at all, but that's all part of its charm. It definitely works better in brighter light so now that summer is finally here I hope that I can get a lot of use out of it over the coming months. I'll keep you updated, but in the meantime here are a few photographs that I've taken using the Action Sampler...
